The Prevention and Combating of Corruption (PCCB) is a public institution established under the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act No. 11 of 2007. This Act was enacted after the repeal of the Prevention of Corruption Act (PCCB) Chapter 329 revised in 2002.

The establishment of this body came after the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania passed the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Bill, 2007 on April 16, 2007. The Bill was signed by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania Mr. Jakaya Kikwete, became the Prevention and Combating of Corruption Act on June 11, 2007 and came into operation on July 1, 2007.

The vision of the Institute is to be the best tool that operates effectively and efficiently while at the forefront of the fight against corruption in Tanzania by 2025.

Our Mission

The role of the Institute is to prevent and fight corruption through public education, prevention, recognition, investigations and prosecutions, and by involving stakeholders to make corruption known to have serious and beneficial consequences for society.
